Test Driving Google Chrome

Check "don't collect my data," download, run. Smooth install. Have to shut down Firefox to import bookmarks, etc. Woulda been cool to have it import the tabs I have set to open when starting Firefox.

First thing I think about, notice, look for - extensions. That's one of the things that makes Firefox such a useful tool for me. There are a lot that if they went missing, I'd find myself spending more time doing things. (And I haven't even looked at Ubiquity yet...)

The 'most visited' on the new tab page looks intriguing. I imagine that would be filled with the tabs I automatically open? Can I automatically start with certain tabs open? Found myself look for a 'file' menu rather than the little wrench and paper icons.Ok, they do have it. Heh. It's a pretty basic feature. I'm not sure why I thought they wouldn't have it?

  • Incognito tabs sound interesting.
  • TaskManager sounds really cool.
  • And I did read (most of) the Google Comic Book about the browser.
  • The tabs on top is gonna take a little getting used to, I think. They look purty, though.
  • Javascript for the rating script on this site doesn't seem to be working. Don't see anywhere to turn javascript on and other things seem to be working.
  • Has spellcheck builtin. Yay.
  • Ok, when editing something in a CMS, Google Chrome auto-filled fields it shouldn't auto-fill. That seems like a big bug. Not sure how to report, though.
