Second MUG Poetic Interview:

I want to try to do one of these each week or so. The first one is with John F. Taylor, who most here know as kerouac

John F. Taylor (aka kerouac)

I grew up in Santee, which is a very...well was a very small suburb of San Diego. It is fortunately or unfortunately growing at a rapid pace. Somewhere around 1990 I moved to El Cajon hoped to get married then got screwed literally and moved back into Santee. Basically I have lived in the East County of S.D. most of my life and hated every minute of it.

My favorite place to live?

Well that would be either Canada or San Francisco both of which I have spent time in. But never enough. I would think though that San Francisco would be the place to hold my heart...Yeah I know it's cliché but screw it. I love that place.

Actually I found Mug by accident every once in awhile I do an internet search for new publishers of internet Publishers and I found Mug. I tried it out and was extremely satisfied with the feedback and the people and just simply got hooked on it as is obvious.

A Poet I admire?

Jesus, where do I start. Clive Barker, Charles Bukowski, MRAOR, Henry Rollins (Unregurgitated), berri, Garcia Lorca, Papazendada, Etc.

These folks seem to write form their heart a couple of them I am sure they write from the heart. But yeah, they are just freaking raw! Excellent stuff is to be found within all of these. I have read some of the older guys like Frost, Gibran, Blake, Etc. This however is an age for change.

Where do I find Undsicovered Poets?

Honestly...Mug! I don't go searching for them I read on the internet a lot but unless they make me feel, I pass them over and I feel a lot of the mainstream stuff in print just makes me freaking yawn.

The last Poet I personally read?

I believe it was either David Ingatowe or Charles Bukowski (Henry Chinaski). David is great but Rimbaud takes you back to the classic style.

My thoughts on rhyme?

It blows unless it is unforced which too many poets these days try to do...it's the truth. I wish I could apologize but that's the way I feel.

How long have I been writing poetry?

Technically since my senior year in high school but honestly probably about since 1992 when my mentor showed me the truth of poetry.

I have been published in four of my own self-whoring books as well as Junkyard Press, Quantum Muse, and Reptilia Magazine. Honestly there about 15-20 more publications that I have been in but I never kept track because I never saw the point. I do it for me, not for the masses. If I counted all the stuff it would be up to over 400 poems. I just don't care about that stuff.

As far as adding anything...

I really enjoy having the availability of Mug and recommend it every chance I get. I am totally astonished that there are not more poets here. The feedback is great and I really want to meet some of the folks here if ever possible they all have such great personalities. Other than that...live for the dream and take the chance. Oh and one more thing just for my brother/best-friend...I may have never known her true name but she was always Ma!

Well as my "real" job I am in the QC department for a Market Research firm in SD, CA. For the reason I think your asking I am a Reptile Educator and writer. Hence the snake in the picture. Now then, before the questions that are usually asked start piling up here...
Yes I have been bitten more times than I can count. Worst bite was a Juvenile Nile Monitor. Have I been bitten by anyhting venomous? yes. I was envenomated by a Garter snake which contrary to popular belief are in fact midly venomous. My favorite reptiles to work with? Anything with scales but the venomous ones give me a real rush I would like to work with more exotic venomous species in the future. If you ever have questions about things with scales and or tails just shoot me an email.

Luap, you lazy butt. "I want to try to do one of these each week or so. The first one is with John F. Taylor, who most here know as kerouac" The first one? I thought that was Chloe. You just copy pasted it, didn't you?
Kerouac, nice interview. If I can ask a question, what do you do, where do you work?

I'd agree with you on San Fransisco and Canada (for living). Although, I've never been to Canada, people there who I've talked to and who've came down to the US I've gotten along with or understood really well. That and I need to learn how to adapt back to cold weather. And who doesn't love San Fransisco? Well....maybe the smell of fish gets to be too much for some people, but hey, the sights and the rest of the environment are worth it.
