Time is very adaptable in movies while in live theatre it's harder to jump around in time without confusion. . Live theatre is divided into scenes. Movies on the other hand are chopped up into shots, which are more frequently changed and can be alot shorter than scenes in a play. Even with the differences in the mediums, many plays have been translated to the big screen with varying levels of success. All this is not to say that one form is inherently better than the other, but that there are differences and it's interesting to study them.
